Smoking is addictive, as many who smoke know. Trying to quit is much harder that people who don't smoke think, they think it's as easy as just stop and you'll be free of the addiction but it's not as simple as that. I have been smoking since last September after trying it at a friends house party. What surprised me is that it takes a few months and a lot of cigarettes to actually become addicted, so if you're not yet addicted, get out now and quit. I have had guys become interested in me but as soon as they found out that I'm a smoker, they lost interest. It's a dirty habit but unfortunately it is addictive.
I have seen plenty of my friends trying to quit their smoking habits and seen how they try and what they do, so there are ways to quit smoking: * First throw away all of your cigarettes or tobacco and papers etc. And your lighter so there is no temptation. * It's about getting out of the routine, for example if you always have a cigarette or roll at the start of the day before lessons and then again at lunch and then another one after school/college start using up the time where you usually have a smoke. If you keep yourself busy, your mind will (over time) stop thinking about having a smoke. * If you find you really miss having a cigarette, try vaping instead, therefore you still go through the motions of smoking but the chemicals in vaping aren't harmful to your lungs. * If you find you really can't stop, try going to your doctor and ask them for help quitting. If you're scared of going to your GP because you are underage (under 17) don't be because it is their job to help you. Beth
