Revision tips

At least once a year the time rolls around where you need to revise for important tests, maybe more than once a year. During this time you may try to cram information in quickly, and get stressed as a result.

I am currently coming up to my mock exams for my GCSEs, which means teachers are rushing to teach us things and revise with us whilst setting homework on top of our own revision. Due to such a busy schedule I’ve had to find creative ways to revise in my spare time.

Normally I use mind maps to revise- they’re fun and colourful and help you to make the notes concise and to the point. You can also put them around your room to read as you get changed or just laying in bed. The same idea goes for learning quotes (for English or RS), by sticking them up on your walls you can revise even when doing other things.

Another great way to revise is through online apps. Personally I use quizlet- you can make your own quizzes or flash cards or use pre-made ones which have exactly what you need. It’s a good app for languages and you can do it wherever (after you download the pack) without internet, such as on the way to school. This helps a lot with preparing for a speaking exam.

Another good way to revise is with flash cards. Using flash cards you can have friends or family test you on subjects you aren’t sure on, and you can test yourself as well if no ones around.

It’s also good to find creative ways to retain the information. You can use flavours and tastes to stimulate your memory- such as chewing the same flavour of gum (if your school allows it) or flavoured water.

Remember to sleep well the night before and take regular breaks,
Best of luck in your exams :)
