Y’know, I think that one of the most common stereotypes about cats is that they’re all evil, human hating creatures. Just because they perhaps don’t look as happy and as cheerful as dogs do, it doesn’t mean that they’re after world dominance and the end of the human race.
I have a cat called Ziggy, and she’s my companion since I was a baby. We’ve grown up together, so we’ve had a pretty strong bond. She honestly the goofiest cat ever, and we’ve been through quite a lot together. Like the time when my mum opened the front door and she calmly walked out, returning a week later, and when I was laying on the couch, and she aggressively snuggled my face. She’s my best friend… even when she does over my house in cat fur! But hey, that’s me. Some people are cat people, some people are dog people. If you’re like me, then you’re both. Dogs are typically loyal companions, who will stick with you, no matter what. Cats are more independent, but when the time comes, they’re there when they need you. The real problem arises, when we mistreat them. If you really want to deep it, it’s like with a human, right? When a human is undisciplined, abused, and treated wrongly, they become quite difficult to handle, and horrid to be around. No matter what they’ve been through, it’s the truth and it’s awful. “Dangerous dogs” can only be dangerous, if the original owner has trained them to be so. Cats that are cold and distant may have been shown a lack of affection by their owner. So, please, treat your pet with the respect and love that they deserve. I know this sounds quite cliché, but it’s actually pretty surprising how many people need to hear this. And if you don’t think this is aimed at you? Show it to someone who needs to be reminded.
